The inspiration for the Digital Art department was the natural artistic abilities of children who are able to capture action and emotion, but lack some of the technical expertise of computers or finishing processes, things as simple as coloring, shading, inking, formatting, or numbering and ordering.
This book was written and sketched by David Novak, but then it was digitally outlined, colored and given text before being laid over scenic photography with a soft gaussian blur in the background for colors, using cartoon images that capture the child’s original line-art and send it through multiple stages of production, including custom photography on-scene where the story takes place. It became the popular reading choice for his brothers because it was short, simple and relatable.
